We are back
Não a Lisboa, mas ao blog. Este post vem de uma repentina vontade de escrever. O blog tem estado ao abandono, sim. Nós pedimos desculpa. Mas uma coisa que eu aprendi com mudanças é que não são fáceis. A minha vinda para Roterdão não foi fácil. Foi uma decisão que demorei cerca de 2 anos a tomar. E contra tudo e todos, aqui estou. Muito feliz, sim. Cansada também. Com vontade de dormir por uma semana, sim. Com muitas saudades da minha cidade, do meu sol e das minhas pessoas. A verdade é que pensei que seria mais difícil. Pensei que ia chorar muito e que ia sentir saudades de muita coisa. Ainda não chorei mas tenho saudades dos meus, da minha Lisboa, das minhas ruas estreitas, de conduzir, de ver a ponte 25 de abril, de ver os barcos, de andar de metro. Tenho muitas saudades de Portugal e ainda só estou aqui há quase 2 meses. Português é assim: saudosista. Temos saudades de tudo, até do que não nos fez bem. Mas a vida também é isto e aqui, em Roterdão, também faz sol (um milagre), as pessoas também são simpáticas, também há rio, também há barcos. Só não há esta vista linda que só a gente tem.

Desaparecida em combate
Não, não fui para a guerra nem coisa parecida. Mas a verdade é que a nova grande mudança não me deu tempo para nada senão para isso mesmo: mudar-me.
Cheguei à Holanda dia 19 de Agosto, por isso está quase a fazer um mês desde que estou por aqui. Há 16 dias que estou a viver sozinha (bom, com mais duas moças mas oficialmente sozinha) e a coisa não podia estar a ser melhor. Ainda estou a habituar-me a cozinhar para um apenas (e o quão difícil é fazer esparguete para um??), a ir ao supermercado, a lavar a roupa, a limpar o quarto, etc. É claro que fazia todas estas coisas antes, mas agora é diferente.
Dia 1 comecei também as aulas na Erasmus University Rotterdam e conheci imensa gente nova: Finlândia, Singapura, China, Espanha, Alemanha, Itália, Grécia... Podia estar aqui o dia todo. E que bom que foi conhecer gente na mesma situação que eu, sem saberem bem no que se estavam a meter. As aulas, essas, uma maravilha. Desde o sétimo ano que sei que quero ser psicóloga mas agora tenho a certezinha absoluta. Tenho estudado todos os dias (porque o curso assim o obriga) e deixo o fim-de-semana para passear em Roterdão, que é afinal de contas a minha cidade maravilhosa.
Nos próximos dias dou notícias. Isto foi só um appetizer ;-) Tot ziens!

PANTEÃO NACIONAL | The National Pantheon
Já diz o ditado e é bem verdade: tudo o que é nacional é bom. Nem que seja pela mais pequena razão. Desta vez, é uma razão bem grande. O Panteão Nacional é o tecto das figuras mais importantes do país e por isso merece sempre a visita. Já não ia ao Panteão há alguns anos e este ano foi de vez. A minha razão era de coração, de amor, visto que o grande Pantera Negra teve a sua merecida mudança há pouco tempo. E eu lá fui, em excursão por Alfama, visita-lo. Era o único com flores. Ele e a Amália, noutra sala, quem de também gosto tanto. E foi bom. Parece que o Panteão e a vista nos enche a alma. E não há nada melhor que a vista da Lisboa, menina e moça para alguém como eu.
A visita ao Panteão Nacional é agora paga: 4€. Se forem no primeiro Domingo de cada mês é grátis! E vale bem a pena :)

The Portuguese expression says it all: what is national is good. Even if it is for the meaningless reason. But, this time, it has indeed a big motive. The National Pantheon is the roof for the most important Portuguese people and therefore it always deserves a visit. I haven't been in the Pantheon for a few years and this time I decided to go. My big motive was love, since Eusébio had his deserved place just less than a month ago. And I went there, on an excursion through Alfama, visiting him. He was the only one with flowers. Him and Amália, the big Diva of Fado, in another room, who I also love so much. And it was amazing. It seems like the Pantheon and the view caresses our soul. And there is nothing better than a view over Lisboa, "menina e moça", for someone like me.
The visit to the National Pantheon is now payed: 4€. If you go on the first Sunday of the month is free. And it is very worth it :)

FÉRIAS NO ALGARVE | Algarve Holidays
As férias começaram a 10 de Julho às 7 da manhã, quando começámos a nossa viagem até Armação de Pêra, no Algarve. Fizemos os 272km and duas horas e picos. Sim, grande tempo! Quando chegámos, desfazer as malas era a primeira coisa a fazer. Os 10 dias que passámos em Armação de Pêra foram suficientes para bronzear e de que maneira, algumas queimaduras (shhh), e ir até ao sítio onde estivemos o ano passado e que é um verdadeiro paraíso: Alvor. Como todos sabemos, o Algarve é conhecido pelas suas maravilhosas praias e pôr-do-sol, gente boa e um calor bem fervoroso! Sempre que entrava no quarto via uns lindos 40 graus à sombra! Mas, enfim, é realmente o sonho. Foram 10 maravilhosos dias para recarregar baterias e aproveitar o sol. Espero que gostem das fotografias e façam questão de visitar! :)

The holiday started on 10th July at 7 in the morning, when we headed to Armação de Pêra, Algarve. We drove 272km in about 2h and a half. Yes, pretty nice time! When we arrived, unpacking was the first thing to do. The 10 days we spent in Armação de Pêra were enough to get a really nice tan, a little sunburnt, and driving to the place we were last year and the true paradise: Alvor. As we all know, Algarve is known for its amazing beaches and sunsets, nice people and really hot weather. I saw 40 degrees everytime I entered the car! But, oh well, it is the dream. It was the most incredible 10 days, enough to recharge batteries and enjoy the sun. Hope you like the pictures and make sure to visit it! :)

MÉXICO | Mexico
As sextas-feiras aqui no blog têm um brilho diferente! É dia de destino de sonho: o dia da semana em que sonhamos além fronteiras. Pois bem, hoje decidi trazer-vos um país pelo qual me apaixonei há pouco tempo: o México.
O México é um dos maiores países da América do Sul, com mais de 113 milhões de habitantes! Sim, o que não falta é pessoal e é o 11º país mais populoso do mundo inteiro. Quando penso no México, penso nas praias maravilhosas e num dos monumentos mais conhecidos: Chichen Itza, que faz parte de uma área arqueológica do país. Para além disso, tem paisagens maravilhosas, até mesmo nas partes mais citadinas, como a capital. E não nos podemos esquecer que no México fala-se espanhol, e as pessoas são naturalmente calientes e com muito sangue na guelra! Com tudo isto, ainda têm uma maravilhosa gastronomia, com os típicos guacamole, nachos e tacos! Podem ver mais aqui.
Mas bom, o que fazer no México? Existem muitas opções! O México é muito visitado pelas suas praias e três dos locais mais populares são a Playa del Carmen, Cancun e San Miguel de Allende. Se forem à procura de alguma cultura, visitem Mérida, a Cidade do México que tem imensos monumentos para ver, e também Guadalajara! O que quer que seja que visitem, de certeza que irão a-do-rar!
Ah, e não se esqueçam de comprar um típico chapéu mexicano, ou sombrero, e um poncho a condizer! ;)

Here on the blog, fridays have a different sparkle! It is dream destination's day: the day of the week where we dream beyond borders. Well, today I decided to introduce you to a country I fell in love quite recently: Mexico.
Mexico is one of the largest countries in South America, with more than 113 million people! Yeah, it is a lot and it's the 11th country with the largest population in the entire world.
When I think of Mexico, I think about the wonderful beaches and one of the most famous monuments: Chichen Itza, which is part of an archaeological area in the country. Besides that, it has amazing landscapes, even in the urban areas, like the capital. Obviously, we can't forget that in Mexico they speak Spanish, and the people are naturally more "caliente"! Likewise, they still have a gastronomy to die for, with the typical guacamole, nachos and tacos! You can see more of it here.
However, what would you do in Mexico? There are a lot of options! Mexico is famous for its beaches and three of the most popular places are Playa del Carmen, Cancun and San Miguel de Allende. If you're looking for a more cultural trip, visit Merida, Mexico City, where there are a lot of monuments to see, and also Guadalajara! Whatever you visit, I'm sure you will love it!

BORA BORA
Depois de alguns dias de hibernação (dado aos exames da faculdade) estamos de volta com mais um destino de sonho! O desta sexta-feira é Bora Bora! Quem não conhece? Fica na eterna e apaixonante Polinésia Francesa, perto na Nova Zelândia e da Austrália.
Bora Bora é tudo o que se quer: areia branca, água cristalina, bungalows de palha à beira do mar, o sítio perfeito para um quadro de "amor e uma cabana". É uma ilha com cerca de 8 mil habitantes e tem pelo menos 7 resorts de luxo! Para além de poderem apanhar um belo de um bronze, ainda podem contar com várias actividades náuticas como expedições de mergulho para alimentação de tubarões e raias.
Bora Bora é o paraíso na terra para mim. Não sei quanto a vocês, mas eu aceitava uma viagem só de ida!

After a few days of hibernation (because of University finals), we're back with another dream destination! This friday we have Bora Bora! Who doesn't know it? It belongs to the eternal and captivating French Polynesia, near New Zealand and Australia.
Bora Bora is everything you're looking for: white sand, crystal water, bungalows over water, the perfect place to bring to life the expression "love and a hut". It is an island with more than 8 thousand people and it has at least 7 five start resorts! Besides getting an amazing tan, you can also count with many activites in the water like scuba diving and feeding sharks and rays.
Bora Bora is a paradise to me. I don't know about you but I would accept going just with a one way flight!

ÁFRICA DO SUL | South Africa
Voltamos com mais um destino de sonho! Até agora já estivemos na Europa e na Ásia. Desta vez voamos até África, mais precisamente até África do Sul, o nosso destino de sonho desta semana!
Com mais de 54 milhões de habitantes, é um país completamente virado para o oceano e tem paisagens absolutamente maravilhosas, desde praias a montanhas (têm das mais antigas do mundo!). Se são apaixonados pela natureza e pelos animais, este é o sítio perfeito para vocês, até porque a África do Sul tem algo digno de ser partilhado: uma colónia de pinguins que vive numa praia só deles, na Cidade do Cabo!
Existem obviamente experiências absolutamente imperdíveis neste país: as rotas de vinho - a maior do mundo -, as visitas românticas à Cidade do Cabo, a província de KwaZulu-Natal, que tem praias, montanhas, natureza e tudo o que possam imaginar. É o país perfeito para a aventura: desde safaris, nadar com tubarões e fazer kayak com crocodilos, só têm mesmo de escolher e rezar para que corra tudo bem!
Eu cá não me importava nada de lá passar uns dias, no país onde o sol está sempre (ou quase sempre) presente. Quem gostava de ir também?

We are back with another dream destination! Until now we have been in Europe and Asia. This time we fly to Africa, more precisely to South Africa, our dream destination this week!
With more than 54 million people, this is a country completely turned to the ocean and it has absolutely amazing landscapes, from beaches to mountains (it has the oldest mountains in the world!). If you love nature and animals this is the perfect country for you to visit, also because South Africa has something that should definitely be shared: a penguin colony living in a beach just for themselves, in Cape Town!
There are obviously some experiences that can't be missed: the famous wine route - the biggest in the world -, the romantic visits to Cape Town, the KwaZulu Natal province, which has beaches, mountains, nature and everything you can imagine. It's the perfect country for adventure: from safaris, swimming with sharks and kayak with crocodiles, you just have to choose and pray everything will be okay!
I wouldn't mind to go there for a few days, to the country where the sun is always (or almost always) present. Who else would like to go too?

ITALIANO | Italian
Hoje venho ensinar-vos algumas expressões em italiano! Apesar de não saber falar fluentemente, pesquisei e encontrei os básicos e uns provérbios bem engraçados, muito parecidos com os portugueses. Eu adoro a língua italiana, tem um je ne sais quoi que não sei mesmo explicar. Já sabemos que os italianos falam com as mãos mas a pronúncia deles é absolutamente maravilhosa! E as pizzas e as massas também, sim...
Eu cá adoraria aprender italiano e ir a Itália praticar um bocadinho (só como quem não quer a coisa). Já se sabe que a prática é a melhor maneira de aprender! Mas, para já, fico-me pelos provérbios e umas expressões italianas bem divertidas! Estejam atentos para mais linguagens no futuro! :)

Today I'm going to teach you some expressions in Italian! Even thought I don't speak it fluently, I searched for a while and I found the basic expressions and also a few funny italian proverbs, which are a lot like the Portuguese ones. I love the italian language, it has a je ne sais quoi that I really can't explain. We all know Italian people talk with their hands but their accent is also absolutely amazing! And the pizzas and pastas, yes...
I would love to learn Italian in the future and go to Italy to practice a little. You know practice leads to perfection! But, for now, I'm staying with the provers and with some really funny italian expressions! Stay tuned for more languages in the future! :)

Como arranjar quarto/apartamento | How to get a room/apartment
Sim, sim... Chegámos a um dos assuntos mais falados quando se pensa em emigrar. Mas onde raio é que eu vou morar? Há várias opções: podemos alugar um quarto, um estúdio, um apartamento... Mas o que é mais económico? E melhor? E com uma vista deslumbrante, já agora? São muitas as perguntas que surgem e nem sempre temos uma resposta certa a todas. Às vezes, é rezar e esperar que aconteça o melhor!
Quando decidimos ir para outro país, ou apenas para outra cidade que não a nossa, temos sempre de ter em conta duas coisas: queremos morar no centro ou mais nos subúrbios? Eu sei que a palavra subúrbio não soa muito bem mas a verdade é que eles existem e as casas lá são muito mais baratas. Mas depois também temos o factor transporte. Se vamos viver para um subúrbio de uma cidade mas trabalhamos/estudamos no centro, também vamos gastar dinheiro com os transportes. E, por isso mesmo, nem sempre a opção mais barata é a melhor!

Yep... Here it is, one of the most famous subjects when moving to another country. Where the heck am I going to live? There are a few options: you can rent a room, a studio, an apartment... But which one is the most economic? And the best? And with the best view? There are a lot of questions that come up and not always we have the right answers for every single one. Sometimes, the best is to pray and hope for the best.
When we decide to move to another country, or just another city, we always have to think about two things: do we wanna live in the center or in the suburbs? I know the word suburbs isn't the best but the truth is they exist and the houses/rooms there are a lot cheaper. But then we also have the subject transportation. If we're going to live in the suburbs but we work/study in the center of the city, we are also going to spend money on trains, subway, buses. And, therefore, not always the cheaper option is the best!

Quando decidimos ir para outro país, ou apenas para outra cidade que não a nossa, temos sempre de ter em conta duas coisas: queremos morar no centro ou mais nos subúrbios? Eu sei que a palavra subúrbio não soa muito bem mas a verdade é que eles existem e as casas lá são muito mais baratas. Mas depois também temos o factor transporte. Se vamos viver para um subúrbio de uma cidade mas trabalhamos/estudamos no centro, também vamos gastar dinheiro com os transportes. E, por isso mesmo, nem sempre a opção mais barata é a melhor!
Podemos começar a nossa busca num website. Eu escolhi o Nestpick porque tem muitas cidades disponíveis e quartos/apartamentos a bons preços!

Yep... Here it is, one of the most famous subjects when moving to another country. Where the heck am I going to live? There are a few options: you can rent a room, a studio, an apartment... But which one is the most economic? And the best? And with the best view? There are a lot of questions that come up and not always we have the right answers for every single one. Sometimes, the best is to pray and hope for the best.
When we decide to move to another country, or just another city, we always have to think about two things: do we wanna live in the center or in the suburbs? I know the word suburbs isn't the best but the truth is they exist and the houses/rooms there are a lot cheaper. But then we also have the subject transportation. If we're going to live in the suburbs but we work/study in the center of the city, we are also going to spend money on trains, subway, buses. And, therefore, not always the cheaper option is the best!

VAMOS COMER NA HOLANDA | Let's eat in Holland
Primeiro país a ser "receitado" aqui no blog! A Holanda não tem tantos práticos típicos como Portugal nem uma culinária muito rica, mas tem muitas coisinhas boas e que nos fazem água na boca! Os mais conhecidos são os stroopwafels mas, para além disso, existem outros doces bem calóricos. A Holanda também é conhecida pelo seu Gouda e por comerem peixe cru (haring)! Vamos começar?

First country with recipes on the blog! Holland doesn't have as many traditional recipes as Portugal, neither it has a very rich cousine, but it has a lot of good stuff which makes our mouth water! The most well known recipe are the stroopwafels but there are also other sweet cakes with a lot of calories. Holland is also known for their cheese, Gouda, and for eating raw fish (haring)! Os poffertjes são uma espécie de panquecas em miniatura, normalmente servidas com manteiga e com açúcar em pó. Estes doces são mais confeccionados durante o Inverno! Parecem bem bons, não acham?

Os bitterballen são muito idênticos a croquetes, que os holandeses também têm (o kroket), e tem por dentro um creme de carne, manteiga, salsa, sal e pimenta. São uma espécie de almôndegas fritas! E são normalmente servidas com mostarda. Yum!

Os holandeses, principalmente em Amesterdão, comem muito disto. Trata-se de peixe temperado com cebola e sal, que se deixa a marinar durante alguns dias e depois come-se sem cozinhar, normalmente dentro do pão. Um bocadinho nojento!

TAILÂNDIA | THAILAND
*Suspiro* Tailândia... É um verdadeiro paraíso. Com mais de 66 milhões de habitantes, este país a única coisa que me faz é suspirar. Nunca me perdi de amores pelo continente asiático mas, ultimamente, cada vez que vou ao Google e escrevo qualquer coisa relacionada, só consigo pensar que quero muito, muito ir!
A Tailândia fica no sudeste asiático, ali entre o Cambodja, o Vietname e a Malásia e tem praias ma-ra-vi-lho-sas, capazes de fazer qualquer um chorar por mais. Tem uma cultura completamente diferente da europeia e faz com que seja ainda mais interessante de visitar. Pelo menos para mim! Só me imagino deitada numa toalha na areia branca, ir à água cristalina molhar o pé ou comer uma boa massa tailandesa e a ver o pôr do sol. Era capaz de passar um mesinho só nisso. Por enquanto, ficam as fotografias*...

Thailand is located in Southeast Asia, between Cambodia, Vietnam and Malasya and has a-m-a-z-i-n-g beaches, capable of making anyone cry for more. It has a completely different culture from the european one and that just makes it even more interesting to visit. At least for me! I can only imagine myself laying in the white sand, my feet in the blue water, eating amazing thai food and watching the sunset. I could spend at least a month doing it. For now, we have only the pictures*...

O primeiro post das VOSSAS VIAGENS está aqui! É o primeiro testemunho e bem engraçado.
Tudo se passou no início de 2010, há 5 anos atrás. O Glenn, o holandês que partilhou a história connosco (e que por acaso também é o meu namorado), tinha 16/17 anos na altura. Tinha aulas de espanhol e, por isso, os professores avisaram logo no início do ano: vai existir um intercâmbio com alunos espanhóis e o objectivo é vocês desenvolverem a língua e escreverem um diário de bordo! Pois bem, o desafio estava lançado.
Em 2010, no dia 21 de Janeiro a turma holandesa partiu para Barcelona para uma viagem de 10 dias. Antes de chegarem a La Seu d'Urgell, onde os alunos espanhóis os esperavam, exploraram Barcelona de cima abaixo. O Glenn conta: "No primeiro dia fomos até ao centro. Depois ainda visitámos o estádio do Barça e vimos um espectáculo de flamenco ao vivo. Tive direito a correr na maratona de Barcelona que estava a acontecer naquele dia". Para além disto, tiveram tempo de uma visita guiada pelo estádio olímpico e viram a Sagrada Família e o Parque Guell, um dos mais famosos em Barcelona.

Everything started in 2010, 5 years ago. Glenn, the Dutch guy who shared his story with us (and who also is my boyfriend) was 16/17 at the time. He had Spanish classes so his teachers told them in the beginning of the year: there is going to be a school exchange with Spanish students and the main goal is speaking and practice Spanish and write a diary of all the activities! Well, the challenge was accepted.
In 2010, on 21st January the Dutch class went to Barcelona for a trip of 10 days. Before arriving at La Seu d'Urgell, where the Spanish students waited for them, they explored Barcelona up and down. Glenn told us: "On the first day we went to the Barcelona center. Then we visited Barcelona's stadium and we saw a flamenco show. I also ran in Barcelona's marathon that was happening that day". Besides that, they had time to go to the Olimpic stadium and they also saw the Sagrada Família and Park Guell, one of the most famous parks in Barcelona.

Tudo o que precisas de saber antes de viajar | Everything you need to know before travelling

Quando decidimos fazer uma viagem, por muito pequena ou longa que ela seja, sentimos sempre um friozinho na barriga: será que nos vamos esquecer de alguma coisa?, será que posso levar isto?, será que vai estar bom tempo?, etc, etc. Bom, principalmente quando se faz uma viagem até ao estrangeiro, é sempre bom saber as regras desse país, o que visitar (façam sempre planos), e também o essencial a levar na bagagem, uma vez que os aeroportos têm regras muito restritas e controladas.
A minha primeira dica para uma viagem é muito simples: sempre que estou a fazer a mala vou-me olhando ao espelho. Calma, não sou assim tão vaidosa! Para não me esquecer de nada vou olhando de cima abaixo: o que preciso na cara? Cremes, maquilhagem, champô, etc. E a lógica é sempre a mesma. Vamo-nos olhando parte a parte e pensando o que utilizamos no dia-a-dia. Esta estratégia nunca falha!
Mas bom, o que é preciso mesmo dizer é que nunca levem coisas em demasia! Mesmo que seja uma viagem de um mês. Para as mulheres, eu sei que é difícil levar poucas peças de roupa, mas tentem fazer mais do que um conjunto com apenas uma camisola, por exemplo. E pensem sempre que podem fazer umas comprinhas no vosso destino, por isso nunca vos faltará nada. E pensem também nos souvenirs!
Em relação aos aeroportos, é importante saber que, actualmente na Europa, todos os líquidos devem estar dentro de uma bolsa/saco transparente e não podem ter mais do que 100ml cada frasco. Podes saber mais acerca disto aqui e lê também as recomendações da TAP em relação a bagagens. E já se sabe, nunca enganem os seguranças ah ah!
Outra dica que vos posso dar é durmam sempre bem na noite anterior ao voo, principalmente aqueles que têm um pouco de medo! Eu adoro estar no avião, mas também sei que consegue ser desconfortável se for um voo muito longo e se estivermos cansados torna-se ainda pior. Tentem levar sempre algo para fazer: um livro para ler, uma série para ver, um jogo, etc.
E, por fim e não menos importante, nunca se esqueçam dos essenciais: passaporte, carteira, óculos para quem usa, medicamentos (nunca se sabe!) e carregadores electrónicos!

Roterdão, a minha cidade maravilhosa | Rotterdam, my wonderful city
Olá pessoas do bem!
Mais uma vez parti até Roterdão a semana passada para umas mini-férias antes dos meus exames. É sempre bom voltar à cidade que vai ser, brevemente, a minha casa. Já o é, na verdade, porque me sinto sempre na minha home sweet home cada vez que aterro em terras holandesas.
Não fiquei em nenhum hotel mas em casa do meu namorado (obrigada, baby) que vive lá e com quem passei os melhores dias, como sempre. É sempre lá que fico quando vou até à Holanda e desta vez não foi diferente. Esteve sempre sol, o que é uma novidade, por isso decidimos aproveitar todos os dias!

Once again I went to Rotterdam last week for a mini holiday before my final exams. It's always good to be back to the city that will, very soon, be my home town. It already is, to be honest, because I always feel like it is my home sweet home everytime I land.
I didn't stay at any hotel but at my boyfriend's house (thank you, baby) who lives there and with who I spent the best days, as always. I always stay there when I go to Holland and this time wasn't any different. It was always sunny, which is new, so we decided to enjoy the most every day!
Mais uma vez parti até Roterdão a semana passada para umas mini-férias antes dos meus exames. É sempre bom voltar à cidade que vai ser, brevemente, a minha casa. Já o é, na verdade, porque me sinto sempre na minha home sweet home cada vez que aterro em terras holandesas.
